Energy management project unlocks detailed view of Smithfield's energy usage
29 May 2025
Weʼre excited to share the successful completion of one of our energy management projects at the Smithfield manufacturing site in NSW, a key step forward in real-time energy management. Initiated in October 2024 and completed in April 2025, this project involved the installation of new energy meters, cabling, switches, and IoT infrastructure – enabling transparent, accurate energy monitoring across 19 locations. These include six major manufacturing processes and two product lines.
This project was proudly funded by the NSW Government through its Metering Plan Implementation Grants, which funds up to 50% of project costs. Find out more at Metering plan implementation grants | NSW Climate and Energy Action.
With 19 meters now onboarded to our site service IoT platform, this new system is unlocking a detailed view of Smithfieldʼs energy usage. Itʼs already helping identify opportunities to improve power quality and is forecast to deliver energy savings of up to 2% annually.
The project strongly aligns with Aliaxisʼ ‘Energy & Greenhouse Gas Global HSE Standardʼ and ‘Go for Zeroʼ strategy – opening up exciting new pathways for decarbonisation and data-driven sustainability action. If you would like to know more, you can email us at vxmarketing@vinidex.com.au.
Special thanks to Zack Sheng, Francis Dikha, Vipul Patel and Naveen Tharayil, as well as the Smithfield team for your outstanding contribution to this project.
