Vinidex broadens carbon reduction objectives across scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions
27 May 2025
Vinidex is committed to playing a leading role in sustainability. We have been making strides towards ambitious targets to reduce water consumption, reduce energy consumption, reduce waste to landfill and close the loop with recycling.
In 2024, Vinidex completed a review of our Carbon Reduction Strategy. The revised approach leverages the globally recognised SBTi framework and seeks to maximise total emissions reductions (Scopes 1, 2 & 3) over the mid-term. This has resulted in a re-balancing towards Scope 3 reduction in the near term.
Vinidex’s Scope 3 reduction initiatives are focused on substituting virgin resin with recycled materials. In line with this strategy, Vinidex is investing in a sustainability hub in Toowoomba, QLD that will recycle polyethylene (PE) for use in our pipe products. This complements our current PVC and PE recycling capability nationally.
Vinidex’s Scope 2 carbon reduction initiatives remain, but the role of renewables will be rephased. Sites in Western Australia and Tasmania will transition to 100% renewable electricity this year as planned. Vinidex sites in NSW, Victoria and QLD will now follow in 2027, which is two years later than originally communicated.
Vinidex, as part of the Aliaxis Group, remains committed to reducing carbon emissions. We remain proud of our efforts in working towards addressing the sustainability needs of today and beyond.
