  • Noise reduction

    The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) published the latest update of the National Construction Code (NCC / BCA) in 2019 establishing the minimum performance requirements for various building types.  Part F5 Sound Transmission and Insulation nominates that for a Soil & Waste or Stormwater pipe passing through more than one sole-occupancy unit the pipe must be separated from the unit by a construction with an Rw+Ctr (airborne) not less than;

    (i)  40 if the adjacent room is a habitable room (other than a kitchen); or
    (ii) 25 if the adjacent room is a kitchen or non-habitable room.

    The Akatherm dBlue Soil & Waste system has been independently assessed by acoustic consultants Acoustic Logic to satisfy the minimum performance requirements of the NCC/BCA when installed as per the following details. Click here for futher sound insulation details.

    Soil & waste drainage system can be installed earlier – there is no need to wait for the building roof to protect the acoustic lagging from the weather.

    High chemical resistance ranging from pH2 to pH12

    High resistance to waste water temperatures up to 90°C (peak 95°C)

  • Green Material

    Akatherm dBlue is 100% recyclable and adheres to the environmental standard IS04001. It’s environmentally friendly without any weakening agent, lead or other SVHC substance. Produced from density modified polypropylene (PP-MD), Akatherm dBlue achieves the GreenStar PVC Credit being a product that does not contain PVC.

  • Long Life

    The minimum life expectancy of polypropylene is over 50 years. Due to the smooth internal layer there is less risk of blockage compared to other systems, meaning it requires less maintenance. There is no corrosion resulting in blockage or reduced lifespan.

    No acoustic lagging means no risk of the taped joint opening-up over time (particularly in hot & humid ceiling spaces) reducing the low noise performance.

  • Ease of handling and installation

     

    Akatherm dBlue is lightweight, over 6 times lighter than the comparable cast iron products. When installed in acoustic applications, Akatherm dBlue may be installed up to 6 x faster than lagged PVC. Akatherm dBlue is flexible and tough, suitable for installation underground and embedment in concrete.
